Shop management software is one of the biggest monthly bills a small shop takes on after rent, insurance and parts. Three of the most-discussed cloud platforms (Tekmetric, Shopmonkey and AutoLeap) all publish their prices. Below is what each vendor’s pricing page said when we checked on October 17, 2026. Vendors change prices often, so confirm on their site before you sign anything.

What you actually get at each entry tier

Tekmetric Start lists inventory and vendor management, digital vehicle inspections, “Smart Jobs,” and digital authorizations and invoicing. The labor guide, maintenance schedules and time clocks start at Grow. Two-way texting and the technician board start at Scale. Tekmetric’s big pitch is that it doesn’t charge per user or per repair order. Add-ons are priced per shop: multi-shop +$70/mo, tire suite +$39/mo, and the marketing suite +$345/mo (source).

Shopmonkey Basic includes two-way text and email, unlimited estimates and invoices, calendar and automated reminders, digital vehicle inspections (two templates on Basic), e-signatures, integrated payments, parts lookup and ordering, and the mobile app. Unlimited inspection templates, customizable workflow and purchase orders start at Clever. The catch for growing shops is the user cap: 3 licenses on Basic, then $20/mo for each additional user (source).

AutoLeap Essentials lists a customizable work board, unlimited ROs, CARFAX integration, canned jobs, verified e-signatures, integrated parts ordering and standard inspections. Two-way texting, inventory, labor guides, QuickBooks Online integration and time clocks start at Pro. AutoLeap also sells a marketing suite and payments as add-ons (source).

How to choose (a simple filter)

  1. Count who logs in. If you’ll have more than three people in the system (owner, service writer, techs), Shopmonkey’s per-user licenses add up. Tekmetric’s unlimited-user model is easier to predict.
  2. Decide whether you need texting on day one. Two-way texting comes with Shopmonkey’s entry tier but not Tekmetric’s or AutoLeap’s. If customers approve work by text in your market, compare the tier where texting actually starts: Shopmonkey Basic $239, AutoLeap Pro $349, Tekmetric Scale $439 (all monthly list prices).
  3. Labor guide access. If you need built-in labor times, Tekmetric Grow and AutoLeap Pro list them. Check whether your current labor-guide subscription would overlap.
  4. Month-to-month vs annual. All three show a discount for annual billing. Only commit annually after a trial month on real ROs.
  5. Ask about the demo incentive. Several vendors run referral programs, and some shops get intro offers. Ask before you sign.

Mobile mechanics: you may not need shop software at all

The platforms above are built around bays, technician boards and repair orders. A one-person mobile operation mostly needs quoting, scheduling, invoicing, payments and route-friendly job lists. Field-service tools such as Jobber and Housecall Pro are built for exactly that, though they lack auto-specific features like VIN decode and parts ordering. If you’re still working out what to charge, start with our mobile mechanic pricing formula and the free labor quote calculator.

Before you book a demo

For mobile-specific picks, see best software for mobile mechanics. Add the subscription to your overhead in the labor rate calculator, and use the built-in review requests (how to get more reviews).
